How to sign up for Forbidden Finance with email and password, verify your email, and log in for the first time.

Overview

Creating a Forbidden Finance account takes about two minutes. You sign up with your email and password, verify your email address, and then log in. No credit card is required, and every account starts with full access to the Free tier.

Forbidden Finance uses a self-hosted authentication system -- your login credentials are never handled by third-party services.

How to Create Your Account

Open the app or visit the website

Download Forbidden Finance from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android), or visit the web app. Tap Create Account on the login screen.

Enter your personal details

Provide your first name, last name, and choose a username. Your username must be unique -- the app checks availability in real time as you type. This username is how you appear to household members if you use sharing features later.

Set your email and password

Enter a valid email address and create a strong password. Your password must include at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one number, and one symbol.

Verify your age

Select your birth month and year. You must be at least 16 years old to use Forbidden Finance.

Accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy

Review and accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy by checking both boxes. You can read each document by tapping the links before accepting.

Verify your email

Check your inbox for a verification email from Forbidden Finance. Tap the verification link in the email to confirm your address. This link expires after 72 hours. If it expires, you can request a new one from the login screen.

Return to the app and sign in with your email and password. You will land on the dashboard, ready to start managing your finances.

Tips

Use an email address you check regularly. Important notifications like bill alerts and weekly digests go to this address.

Choose a memorable username. You cannot change it after signup, and household members see it when you share accounts.

If you do not verify your email within 72 hours, the verification link expires. You can request a new one by attempting to sign in and following the prompt to resend the verification email.
