Billing History, Packs and Downgrades

See your invoices, add or change Premium Connection packs, choose what goes when you downgrade, and restore a store purchase.

Overview

Everything about paying for Forbidden Finance lives on one screen: Settings > Subscription. From there you can open your invoices, add extra Premium Connections, review a downgrade you've scheduled, and restore a purchase you made in the App Store or Google Play.

Where you subscribed matters. A plan you bought on the web is billed through Stripe, and you manage it in the app. A plan you bought in the iOS or Android app is billed by Apple or Google, and you manage it in their subscription settings. The Subscription screen shows Billed via under your plan name so you always know which one applies.

How to see your billing history

Open Subscription

Go to Settings > Subscription.

Open Billing History

Under Manage Subscription, tap Billing History. Your invoices are listed newest first. Tap Load more to see older ones.

Open an invoice

Tap any invoice to see its subtotal, tax, total and platform. Tap View Invoice to open it in your browser, or Download PDF to save a copy. You can also copy the invoice ID to quote it to support.

Each invoice shows a status:

StatusWhat it means
PaidThe charge went through.
PendingThe invoice is open and hasn't been paid yet.
FailedThe payment couldn't be collected.
RefundedThe charge was refunded.
VoidThe invoice was cancelled and nothing is owed.

Billing History appears for plans billed on the web. If you pay through the App Store or Google Play, your receipts come from Apple or Google instead. Use Manage in App Store or Manage in Play Store on the Subscription screen to see them.

On the web you'll also find Update Payment Method, which opens the secure Stripe billing page.

Premium Connection packs

Packs add extra Premium Connection slots for HSAs, 529s and workplace retirement plans. Any paid plan can hold them. How you buy them depends on where you're billed.

  • On the web: scroll to Premium Connection Packs on the Subscription screen and pick a size. You can add a pack, switch to a bigger one (charged pro rata right away) or a smaller one (takes effect at your next renewal), or tap Cancel Pack. A cancelled pack is removed at the end of your billing period.
  • In the iOS and Android apps: extra slots come with the plan itself. On each plan card, use Additional Premium Connections to choose None or a number of extra slots, then subscribe. It's one subscription and one charge.

If you're billed by one channel and open another, the app tells you where your pack is managed. For example, a web-billed pack shows "Your plan is billed on the web, so your Premium Connection pack is managed there too."

If your plan lapses while you still hold a web pack, the pack goes inactive. Resubscribe to use it again, or cancel the pack so you're no longer billed for it.

How to review a downgrade

A downgrade takes effect at the end of your billing period. If the new plan allows fewer connections or tracked currencies than you use today, you choose which ones go.

Find the pending change

On Settings > Subscription, your plan card shows "Changing to" the new plan and the date. Tap Review.

Pick what to remove

The Review downgrade screen lists your bank connections and foreign currencies. Tick the ones to remove until the counter is met. If you haven't picked enough, you'll see "Pick 2 more to continue." (or however many are left).

Save

Tap Save selection. Anything you don't pick is chosen for you, most recently added first.

Moving below Pro also disconnects brokerage and investment connections, since lower plans don't include them. If the new plan already fits what you use, the screen says nothing will be removed.

Changed your mind? Tap Undo next to the pending change to keep your current plan.

Removing a currency that comes from a connected account disconnects that account too. The screen shows how many accounts each currency comes from.

Banners you might see

  • Changing to a plan on a date: a downgrade is scheduled. Tap Review or Undo.
  • Cancels on a date: you cancelled, and paid features stay on until then. Tap Resume to keep your plan.
  • Change to more or fewer Premium Connections pending: a store-billed slot change will apply at renewal.
  • Sharing with your partner expires in some days: you dropped below Pro, so sharing has a 14-day grace period. This shows on your dashboard. Tap Upgrade to keep sharing.

How to restore a store purchase

Open Subscription on your phone

Go to Settings > Subscription in the iOS or Android app.

Tap Restore Purchases

It's at the bottom of the screen. If your store account has an active subscription, it's linked to your Forbidden Finance account. If not, you'll see "No purchases to restore."

If the store already charged you but your plan hasn't switched yet, the screen shows "Your purchase is confirmed" with a Finish activating button. Tap it to try again.

Tips

Before you downgrade, disconnect the connections you no longer need. Then nothing gets picked for you.
Copy the invoice ID from Billing History when you email support about a charge. It gets you an answer faster.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why don't I see Billing History?

It only appears for plans billed on the web. App Store and Google Play receipts live in your Apple or Google account.

Can I buy a pack on its own in the app?

No. In the iOS and Android apps, extra Premium Connections come with your plan through the slot selector on each plan card. Standalone packs are sold on the web.

How do I cancel a subscription I bought in the app?

Tap Manage in App Store or Manage in Play Store on the Subscription screen. Apple and Google handle cancellations and refunds for store purchases.

Is my data deleted when I downgrade?

Your transaction history is kept. Connections you remove stop syncing.
